Hall (& Oates) of Fame

Recently the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inducted the 2009 class: Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Metallica, Run D.M.C., and Bobby Womack. Jeff Beck is a great guitarist, but s my d. I have never even heard of Little Anthony, let alone The Imperials. I can't argue against Metallica or Run D.M.C., and nothing says "rock and roll" like Bobby Womack. Last year had Madonna and Leonard Cohen. Just call it "The Popular Music Hall of Fame" already.
Most importantly, why hasn't the corporate devil Rolling Stone run Hall of Fame inducted the great Daryl Hall and John "Stache" Oates yet?

Take a look at some stats...

- Six #1 Hits on the Billboard Top 100
- 60 Million albums sold worldwide
- Seven platinum albums
- Six gold albums
- Thirty-four Billboard Top 100 singles
- A fashion that defined an era
- Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame
- "Rich Girl"

Now let us take a look at Little Anthony & The Imperials...

- A #4 single in the Billboard Top 100
- Uhhh... they covered "You Only Live Twice"

Okay, they actually charted quite a few times on the Billboard Top 100 and R&B charts, but you catch my drift. It is a knock against America to not include the musical mastery of Hall & Oates in the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".

Other notable omissions: Tom Waits, Weird Al Yankovic, T. Rex, Lou Reed, The Replacements

what a scary picture...
